The quote that used was for the title of this weeks blog is right on point. For this week, we have been instructed to begin the directions to "take action" as it were on the subject or problem that we've been writing about for the past semester. If you have been keeping up or your a first time reader then it should not be too hard to find out that my subject has been: the future, and the years after you graduate when you're attemting to find a job. Will the carreer that you've been studying for be needed in 10 years? Or will if have become a dead industry? How much will you be making? These are questions that should be very important when deciding what you want to major in. To help you find this information and give a little bump in the right direction, I have found a couple resources. First, I give you salary.com this website is very easy to navigate and should be benificial, it gives you projected salaries and degrees which are most commonly achieved by that career. Next, I have this article (click to link), which was written by forbes and lists thirty or so jobs that may intrest you. The overall theme which I have been writing about is: now and later. Meaning that right now we are in College and making crucial decisions that are going to effect the rest of our life. Including which field we are studying and what profession we will be in. The classes that we are in are setting us up for a job or set of jobs that are going to allow us to either have the freedom we desire or, pin us down for eterinity. By saying later, this is talking about the future and, how the decisions that we are making right now will effect us later on in life. To assist you and help you find out what classes you should be taking to get into the right career, you have the internet. This tool will not only allow you find what type of job will be "needed" in the next few years but, it will also help to show you what kind of salary you can expect. Even after this country hits rock bottom. There will be a very abundant need for a lot of occupations. So start now! Think about what you truley want to do with your life then decide if that job will be able to provide for you or maybe even your family. In truth, there is more weight on us as students right now then there has ever been before. We not only need to make choices about our future. We also must anticipate the upcoming changes in the economy and job market. This is a diffucult task it does not matter who you are. So think, meditate, do yoga what ever helps you to center your Chi and get a answer for yourself.

I just want to start off this weeks post by thanking anyone who has already commented on my blog. Everything that has been said was pretty kind and insightful. Commenting back and forth is truly what makes blogging, blogging. If it were not for the constant communication between the writers and their peers, the whole blog system would not be half as entertaining.
So far, I have gotten a couple comments and for the most part they have been elaborating and adding to my conversation. I appreciate it, it has made it a lot easier to keep blogging when I know there is a chance that someone will write back. Unfortunately, there is not really any form of response to give except "RIGHT ON" simply due to the lack of contradictory comments. I can't give answers when there has been no questions. But for any of you folks in 1010 English with the rod man (not that anyone else actually reads this shit), thanks for reading and if you comment me I will absolutely comment your blog. Mark F. is a little sissy girl, feel free to tell him that when you comment his blog.
In all actuality I am just trying to get the quota of words so I don't get docked any points. My real question to all of you and hopefully everyone will answer is : Do you believe that Professor Marchant has read even one of our blogs this whole term?? If so do you have any evidence, and if not how do you think he will grade it..

Blogging at it's best?

Blogging is a new concept that many people have yet to touch base with. It is big, it's bold, and it's all the hype. For most people that I have personally spoken with bogging comes off as a bit of a joke. However, when you sit back and look at the convenience of a blog, it starts to grow on you.
When I was first told that I would be required to blog for a college assignment, it almost made me sick. The problem was I was knocking something that I had never tried. My perspective on blogging was, that as a whole it was for either computer geeks trying to get the inside scoop on when the next World of Warcraft tourney was, or over zealous dog trainers who can't get enough pooch info.
Those assumptions were blown out of proportion and just plain wrong. Blogging has made the community writing portion of english1010 easier, and as far as I'm concerned much more efficient. Blogging has grown on me since this assignment has started, it allows a entire class to share thoughts and writing with a speed that I for one could have never imagined otherwise. Not to mention that we don't even have to attend class on Fridays because of it. I'd like to see a handwritten persuasive essay achieve that...

The summary of a summary

Thus far we have covered the idea that there may not be as large a demand for a lot of careers that are needed right now. This thought may come as a surprise to many individuals. Even if you shocked, appalled, disgusted, or just downright disappointed that I am bringing up such a concept. It is still true.
This great country that we have all come to know and love is changing face. It is moving in a direction that is going to get worse before is gets better. Seeing as we live in such a place that allows you to have all the freedom you need to choose a career that will not only be right for you but also creates a flow of money to give you some freedom. Not just in the way you live, but also what you eat and the car you drive not to mention what you do in your free time. There are so many jobs to choose from and now more than ever it is excruciatingly important that you pick the right one.
Because after all who wants to get stuck being a college professor.

A few steps in the right direction

Right, now as you're reading this our government is working on the fine details of the "bailout plan". In theory, this large sum of money and a bulk sum of jobs is supposed to jump start the economy similar to when you use jumper cables to get a car with a dead battery running. This may help our situation. If you've kept up somewhat with what my blog is about then you would know that we have been talking about how hard it is to choose a career right now when the economy is in such a shit hole. And, face the facts in five years there may not be such a demand for PE teachers as there once was.
On the bright side, there are steps that you can follow to make sure that you are going to have a career that is going to be worth staying around for. First, research on the internet, this is definetly the easiest way that you can see what kind of need there is for the job you want right now. For example, just enter " need for architects" and a couple articles will pop up maybe even a few graphs.
Second, once you have a good idea of the prospective need for your career in the making, find out a accurate estimate of what kind of income that job is going to bring for you per year, then see how its going to change with the recession. ( there are a few calculators on the internet that will help you to do this.).
Third, and most important, look at what you really want to do. Make sure that the carreer your going into is not just something that is just OK. There are millions of jobs out there and with a little time and effort, a bit of elbow grease, you will find something that will not just make you happy. It will also be able to provide a good income for you, for years to come.

The Other Side of The Tracks

Fact of the matter is that we are heading straight for a recession. And, if truth be told we are already in one. More people have lost their jobs in the last few months, than in previous years. It is getting bad. Even our president, has said that the horizon is not a bright one. It is really going to be important to choose a career that is stable and had good security. There is just no point in wasting your time and money in college if right when you graduate the economy is in a superfluous shit hole. Honestly, I would most likely be a graphic designer, but there might not be a very wide market for that career. So try hard, very hard, and think of something that will be able to provide for you long after we are in financial helter-skelter.
